Who am I to tell you you're beautiful? What, you haven't heard it before? Am I supposed to be the only one who noticed it, in your entire life? Like I've made some secret discovery that no one else has? Yeah, I'd probably like that. No competition would make me feel safer. Safer because I'm a fraud. In reality you've probably heard it a thousand times, presented to you in many different ways, at many different times. You've probably heard it and it's made you feel better. You've probably heard it and it's made you feel cheap. You've probably heard it from people you love, and people you hate. You've probably heard it from everybody. And the words lose meaning, don't they? Or do they? Can't say I've ever heard them to such a frequency, so I wouldn't know. Do you get jaded to it? Do you get tired of hearing it? Or like a warm shower, is it a feeling that never gets old? Perhaps it serves as a pleasant reminder to you that, if you've ever poor, or lonely, or hopeless, that at least you have your looks. At least you can walk through a crowded room and draw stares from those fighting the same loneliness you are.
Sincerely,
A very small man
